Insect Information
An infestation can result in something as minimal as simple discomfort, knowing they are there, or it can lead to physical damage to your home or injury to yourself, your children, or your pets.
Having certain insects in your home is probably unavoidable. Spiders and flies will find their way in, and you will likely encounter several other creepy critters. Most people are understanding and accepting of this, but when it comes to a full-blown infestation of pest insects, that is another matter altogether.
Signs of Insect Pests
Having an insect infestation is something that most people dread and for good reason. An infestation can result in something as minimal ..
An infestation will leave signs
The form they take will depend on the type of insect, but you could come across any of the following:
Live Insects
Insect Remains
Pest Droppings
Here’s an unpleasant one. Droppings may take the form of small “poppy-seed” pellets, larger black pellets, or what looks like saw-dust.
Holes and Tunnels
A home free of insects is, unfortunately, not always the case. Simply keeping your home clean will not be enough to control the population of insect pests.
Similarly, using do-it-yourself treatments will sometimes leave you feeling like you have accomplished the job of removing the pests, but often these products and home remedies serve only to address the most visible, surface-level aspects of the infestation. Professional pest control strikes right at the source of the issue to ensure results.
Though many tend to think of rats and other rodents when the topic of disease from pests comes up, insects are also capable of transmitting them. Cockroaches, for example, can pick up salmonella and E. coli bacteria while rummaging through garbage and waste. They and other insects might also cause allergic reactions.
Rather than investing time, effort, and money in measures that are not truly effective, choose professional pest control to get things done right.
Why Insect Control Is Important
You may not immediately see the need for regular pest control. For many, a clean home or workplace means it is free from insects. That’s why pest information is needed.
When dealing with an infestation, it is wise to leave it to the professionals. Let us help you remove these pests quickly and efficiently, ensuring that they are not only truly gone, but also not coming back. Find out more about Solutions Pest Control Insects Control Services.

How To Tell If You Have an Infestation
Cockroaches
Signs of Cockroach Infestation
The most obvious sign of a cockroach infestation is seeing them. Since they are nocturnal insects, your best chance of spotting them is at night. You may enter a room and turn on a light only to see them scatter to the four corners of the room. You may also find their shed skins or their droppings, which look like pepper stuck to surfaces. A significant infestation might also produce an unpleasant odour.
Seeing a cockroach during the day could indicate that your infestation has been going on for quite some time. It may also suggest that it has progressed to such a point that overcrowding has forced them out into the light. At this point, taking immediate action is needed.

Bed Bugs
Signs of Bed Bug Infestation
Bed bugs can be hard to find for those who aren’t sure what they should be looking for. Even when bites appear, some individuals do not react to them, while others might mistake them for mosquito bites.
Adult bedbugs are roughly the size of an apple seed and are reddish-brown, flat, and wingless. Upon feeding, they swell up and turn bright red. Younger bed bugs go through five stages before reaching adulthood, and at the smallest size are very difficult to spot.
Where To Look For Bed Bug
Bed bugs will gather near to where their host sleeps. The top spots to check are:
- bottom of box spring
- bed frame if it is made of wood
- headboard
- mattress
Some of the places to check include bedside tables, ceiling and wall junctions, and loose panelling. They also appear in any crease or crevice near sleeping areas such as mattress seams and baseboards.
Other signs of their presence include moulted skins, fecal spots on your mattress or bedding, and bloodstains on your pyjamas and sheets.

Moths
Signs of Moths Infestation
The most visible sign of a moth infestation is finding small, irregular holes in your clothes. You might also find silken tubes in the darker areas of your closet. These will be close to the damaged garments or might even be on the clothes themselves.
You may find evidence of moths in your food pantry. They can chew through thin plastic packages, so you are looking for chew marks and small holes. You may find eggs wrapped in small sticky nest on the package edges.
Moths are frequently found resting at the wall/ceiling intersection. Of course, you might also spot the moths themselves, either in flight or crawling on various surfaces.
The likely types of moths in Metro Vancouver are meal moths or clothing moths depending on where they are found.

Flies
Signs of Flies Infestation
Flies can drive a person nuts. Hearing the buzz of their wings or seeing them flit about in your peripheral vision can be highly distracting. Even worse is having them decide that they are entitled to share your meal when you sit down to eat.
Having a fly or two in your home, while annoying, is pretty standard for most people. As you start noticing more significant numbers, however, you may be experiencing an infestation. Dead fly bodies may begin appearing, as well as clusters of black dots (feces) on your windowsills and near drains or trash bins.
Flies always need a food source, be it a dead rodent, garbage, organic bin or dirty drain. Finding the breeding site is key to long term eradication.
A definite sign of a fly infestation is finding maggots. These may be found in your garbage bins, though eggs might also be laid in feces found in your cat’s litter box.

Wasps
While the other pests on this list are annoying, wasps can prove to be a real danger. They can be angered easily, resulting in them swarming to attack. You can identify wasps by their long wings, hairless bodies, and slender yellow abdomen.
Wasp nests can be found under eaves, in shrubs, inside spaces in walls, or even in attics. The largest colonies can include thousands of wasps, which simply means these insects should be left to the professionals.
