Wasp Nest Removal
- Are you getting swarmed by wasps while you try to enjoy yourself on the patio or deck?
- Have you or someone you know been stung by a wasp or bee?
- Are you in need of wasp nest removal in Metro Vancouver or Whistler and surrounding areas?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are just a phone call away from relief.
While physical wasp nest removal is the ideal situation in most circumstances when a nest is discovered, it isn’t always possible. Treatment and extermination of the wasp nest are always possible. We typically find wasp nests in Metro Vancouver and Whistler to be one of two situations: either exposed nests (visible to the see) or hidden nests (entry point only). Both are dangerous and should be treated with the same level of caution to avoid getting stung or attacked.
- Wasp Fact:
- A wasp nest can grow to over 10,000 during this time of year.
Therefore, it is important to prevent this from happening before your wasp problem spirals out of control, keeping you indoor. If you would like how to keep wasps away from your home, you may want to see our blog post about Wasp Control.
Wasp Nest Removal Treatment
At Solutions Pest Control, we strive to eliminate the nest immediately and with as little (if any) product required. If the nest is available (exposed), we will endeavour to remove the nest after treatment. Hidden wasp nests can be more tricky to remove, as they can be as far away 20′ from the entry point that we see. It is not uncommon to see an entry point near the roof while the nest is deep into a wall or ceiling.
Wasp nest treatments typically consist of applying a residual product to the nest entry point and possibly other areas as well if the nest is exposed. As the wasps encounter the product on the inside of the nest they will become disturbed and try to leave the nest. At the same time as they are trying to leave the nest, the returning wasps are discovering that their nest has been put in danger and become aggravated as well on the outside of the nest (or entrance if it’s a hidden nest). All this can make for a dangerous situation for the amateur wasp nest killer.
Once the wasps outside calm down and begin to re-enter the nest, they cross the residual material and take it into the nest, contacting others and effectively giving the wasp nest a knockout punch. Within 24-48 hours (or less) of your wasp nest treatment, the activity has stopped, the wasps are dead and you are cleared for relaxation for another season. Call today to have your wasp nest removed.
Hornet Nest Removal
Hornet nest treatment is similar to a wasp nest treatment with a few differences.
Notably, hornet nests are almost always visible and often built in a tree or bush, well hidden. The Hornet Nest Treatment is the same application of residual product into various parts of the nest, however, the nest is not removed at the same time.
Why you ask? Hornets will frequently rebuild a nest, even though their queen is not present. It is not uncommon for a customer to call and say they had another company remove a nest last week and they rebuilt it again. The nest removal is usually scheduled for a few days later, once we know they are all dead inside. Contact us today for your Hornet Nest Removal.
Wasp Traps
If a wasp nest or entry point is not visible and you still have wasp activity, you may find the Rescue Wasp Trap to be very efficient. We frequently will install a wasp trap that uses pheromones for attraction to help reduce the number of wasps in the area. It is common for these traps to start working within minutes of application due to the powerful pheromone scent emitted. Expect to find literally hundreds of wasps inside after only a week.
Like many homeowners, you’ve probably done exhaustive research on the numerous ways to keep wasps from setting up camp on your property. You might have come across fake nests—a non-toxic deterrent designed to trick wasps into staying away. If you are wondering whether fake nests are effective, it may be helpful to check our blog post on “Do Fake Wasp Nests Really Work?”
